The Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA), the country’s central government agency for planning, developing and promoting the national space program, is scheduled to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Space Cooperation with the United Nations, represented by the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), on 4 June 2021.

The Philippines, led by Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary for Maritime and Ocean Affairs Maria Angela A. Ponce, and Australia, led by US and Indo-Pacific Strategy Division of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade First Assistant Secretary Craig Chittick, held the inaugural Maritime Dialogue on 10 June 2021.

The Presidential Assistant on Foreign Affairs Robert E. Borje and Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs Sarah Lou Y. The Philippines and Australia reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen bilateral ties and deepen cooperation in untapped multi-sector industries, particularly in the electronics sector, during the business forum themed “Open for Business – 75 years”, marking 75 years of Philippines-Australia diplomatic relations, on 02 June in Brisbane.

Philippine Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran Wilfredo C. Santos assumed the ASEAN Tehran Committee (ATC) chairmanship from the outgoing Chair, former Malaysian Ambassador to Iran Dato’ Rustam Yahaya, who was represented by Chargé d’Affaires, a.i., Mohd Nizam bin Halimi of the Embassy of Malaysia, at the Philippine Embassy in Iran on 07 June 2021. The Philippines will serve as ACT Chairperson for six months.

In a virtual ceremony held on 11 June 2021, the Philippines and Japan signed an agreement on space cooperation. Dr. Joel Joseph S. Marciano, Jr., Director General, Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) signed on behalf of the Philippines, while Dr. YAMAKAWA Hiroshi, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) President signed for Japan.

In the 07 June 2021 meeting between Philippine Ambassador to the State of Israel Macairog S. Alberto and Trade Commissioner Ohad Cohen, Director of the Foreign Trade Administration of Israel, both parties committed to boost economic cooperation between the two countries.

The Philippines pursues increased vigilance against terrorism despite its resources being stretched by the COVID-19 pandemic” Deputy Permanent Representative Ariel R.Peñaranda of the Philippine Mission to the United Nations stated during a Security Council meeting held on 16 June 2021. DPR Peñaranda also stressed that any threat to the protection and safety of the Filipino people, including those to public health, is necessarily a national security issue.

National Historical Markers from the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) were unveiled at the Official Residence of the Philippine Ambassador to the United States on 21 June 2021. The unveiling is of deep significance and great importance as it coincides with the 75th anniversary of the formal establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and United States.

“The ASEAN Village symbolizes the enduring brotherhood between the peoples of the Philippines and Indonesia. It is a testament to what international and ASEAN cooperation is capable of achieving,” Ambassador Noel Servigon, the Permanent Representative of the Philippines to ASEAN, stated during the official launch of the ASEAN Village in Palu City, Central Sulawesi, Indonesia on 24 June 2021 which was held via hybrid format.
